Day 1 in Bangkok (Technically night #1 since our flight lands at night)! Here's my first scheduled update! A very short one though.

Shot a photoshoot for ZA x Lowry's Farm for GLOW Magazine around the end of last year and the issue is finally published! I was there along with 3 other ladies and we had a fun time shooting together! Here are some pictures my friend (thanks Charmian!) sent to me that were taken from her phone (which explains the small size). Gotta get my hands on an issue soon hehe.

The same week, I helped Justin Javier from Shunji Matsuo be a hair model to shoot a video for HerWorldPlus.com. The video is already out but I can't embed it so here's the link if anyone's interested.

I personally felt that the looks were pretty easy to achieve, but the braids were the hardest because getting nice, even, braids are hard ):. Personal fav is the first look!

Okay going to end off the short post here! Love from Thailand!

Cascading Curls

Wednesday, January 30, 2013
Went back to my sponsor's yesterday to touch up my roots before my BKK trip and for CNY as well. I actually wanted to do it after I returned from BKK but the thoughts of having nasty black roots in the pictures to memorate my first trip to BKK was just horrendous so I made an appointment to get it touched up.

Nothing much to blog about the process, really, because all I did was touch up my existing hair colour - which to date I have gotten so many compliments on. If you wanna get this colour, look for Caely!

Woke up bright and early to head down for my 11am appointment!

After the roots were touched up, I got a treatment done as well - just like I usually would. This time I tried something new, Matrix's Biolage Exquisite Oil. It's to repair and nourish the hair, and was added into the treatment mask and then the mixture was applied to my hair.

Over this near 1 year, I'm glad to say that my hair is in VERY good condition now! I doubt people can barely even tell that at least 6 inches up from my hair ends were permed because of how well Caely and her team has been taking care of my hair of (of course with added effort from myself :x). I recommend to ALWAYS get a hair treatment when you're at the salon, especially if you've done any chemical treatments - and products to prolong the effects of your treatment.

After the treatment, my hair was silky smooth and softer. It feels extra soft as compared to other times because this time I didn't do anything to the ends of my hair so it's like having it go for a pampering spa session for my hair ends.

Caely decided to do soft cascading curls for me using a curling tong. I was never good at using the curling tong (and was lazy 90% of the time to do so), and I always thought that the effect from using the tongs (on my hair length) will result in very bouncy and defined curls! Seeing how Caely made these super soft and casual wavy curls really made my eyes open!!

So i asked Caely what she did with it - and her trick was that she started along the mid-section, and very lightly tonged the ends (the only time they hit the iron was when she pulled along the lengths to release the curled section). I'm not very good with explaining for this, but maybe I'll try to do a video (either on my next trip back... or if i manage to learn the technique).

Okay guys this is the end of this post! ^~^

I've got a few posts scheduled for when I am away, so do check back!

Pastel Floral Bling

With the pictures all over Instagram and my facebook page, I'm guessing you guys probably already know where this is going.... a post about my new set of gel nails done with my sponsor.

*Phyl is fully booked from now till CNY. So earliest booking starts on the 13th (just in time for Valentine's Day). Slots are very limited so book fast because it's on first come first serve basis. You can whatsapp the image or the rough idea of what you want done to Phyl to get a price quote! (If you intend on doing 3D ones please do let her know in advance to give her time to prepare.)

Not that the previous set didn't last or that I didn't like it - it was perfectly intact like when I first did it (except that my nails did grow out a little), but mum didn't want me donning black nails for CNY and so I went back to Phyl to get them done for my BKK trip and for CNY. (I could only do them now cause she's fully booked from the time I get back till CNY!)

You guys probably have already seen it but this is a little more than just showing off the nails - Phyl actually removed my previous set without soaking or even damaging my nail/cuticle with acetone! So remember in this post I mentioned about the hard gel overlay? Basically what Phyl did to protect my nails and cuticles was to simply buff the soft gel off.
She used this tool and very gently buffed the soft gel off. Then used a nail file to file the rest off. I knew my nails were still nice and safe because they layer of hard gel was still on my nails by the time she was done. THIS was what she meant by protecting my nails with hard gel!! If you are constantly doing your soft gel nails, I really highly recommend you to do this (and of course do it with Phyl la).

I let Phyl know roughly the design I wanted, and left the rest up to her expertise (like what I usually do with my hair and leaving it to Caely). I chose the 2 colours I wanted (which were pastel pink and pastel purple, from the brand NFu'Oh.... which I forgot how to pronounce lolol), with the gold half moon trimmings, and then let Phyl work her magic.

Then the process of paint, cure (under the uv lamp), paint, cure, paint flowers, cure, paint, cure was repeated, just like how normal gel polishes are applied. After that, Phyl took out this box full of swarovski crystal blings for my nails! Yay bling!
Whatever size and colour you need, it seems like she already has it!

Glue was applied to my nails to help the crystals to adhere, then Phyl picked them up with a (wax, I believe) stick and promptly started to add more life into my already very chio nails.

Blings all on!
This was before top coat. The top coat kind of caused the surface of the crystals to become smooth (as opposed to cut at different angles to reflect light, thus causing the shine) but they still look very pretty nonetheless. Phyl made the top coat a little thicker for me cause I wanted the nails to last for CNY, and it would be a bummer if they dropped off!

All done~
Gorgeous right!!!

And some random camwhore shots with awkward hand poses lolol. Anyway PLEASE ignore my untamed brows ~_~. I shot my face cause I was wearing this beautiful bluegreen eyeliner from Skin79's new makeup line - Kick It Side, and loved it! And the lipstick in my pictures.... the same one I wore in my previous post. Favourite lipstick of the moment.

Pretty ladies for you?

Thursday, January 17, 2013
Recently got invited to a media event thanks to the ladies at Touch and I got to meet up and catch up with so many other bloggers on the day itself. While I have yet to take pictures, try out, and review the products, this post is just for me to post the pictures I've taken with them. All pretty ladies heh.

Here's my outfit of the day for the event
Dress: Cotton On Online
Shoes: Bought Online (you'll see it in one of the following pictures)
Bag: Rabeanco

Can't remember the products I used on my skin, but my eyelashes were Eyemazing #801 (top) and Dollwink #5.
For my lips I was wearing a new lipstick I recently got (swatches here), thanks to the sis for getting them for me in Australia. I was wearing #16, and topped it off with one of ZA's Lip Drops Lip Gloss.

All pictures taken with the Casio Exilim TR150 which I was sponsored with to review last year. One of the best reviews I've ever gotten to do. Every time i whip out this camera it gets a ton of attention, and most commonly I get people asking me if it is a phone or a camera - because it's THAT slim and sleek. After seeing self portraits taken with it everyone asks me how much it is and etc because they want to get their hands on it too lol. If you like taking self portraits, this definitely should be your pick!

Anywhere as menioned above, here are the pictures!
Irene

Yvette and Meryl

This was actually an accidental shot taken but I decided to post it up because I noticed Meryl and I were dressed so alike that day! I didn't realise until I saw this hahaha

Tiphanie

Verlyn

Candy - whom I've known since the start of being a beauty blogger thanks to CLEO. I don't really see her much at events so definitely have to snap a picture! Almost didn't recognise her cause of her funky hair colour!

Chantana

Miwitch. She's like a giant!! Super tall. I was wearing my heels (so I was about 172+cm that day) and she was still taller than me!!

Kas (sorry if i got your name wrong sweetie!) and Chantana!

Jacelyn

Ending the post of here! Will definitely review the products from this launch soon because they're really exciting! (Hint: supposed dupe for YSL's glossy stains!)

Black & Gold with D'Nail Palette, my new nail/manicure sponsor

Wednesday, January 16, 2013
Hey guys! So if you have already seen my Instagram or the new banner over at the "Sponsors" section of my side bar, you'd have known that I now have a new sponsor who will be doing my nails for me - D'Nail Palette. Check out her Facebook Page as well! Keep on reading for a special promo for my readers!

D'Nail Palette is a home-based manicure salon that is located in the west side of Singapore - around Bukit Gombak to be exact (5 mins walk from the MRT station; if you are unsure where her place is, Phyl also gives a very very detailed instruction on how to get there!).Phyl, who is the owner of the salon is a certified nail artist, and is also an ambassador for ONS (Odyssey Nail System), and imports all products used from the USA. Phyl can do simple and classic designs to over-the-top extravagant designs as well, I've posted a picture of some of her works on Instagram and it was pretty well recevied! For more on D'Nail Palette: Click Here.

Making an appointment with Phyl is very fast and easy:
1. Whatsapp or SMS Phyl @ 81331321 or email her at d.nailpalette@gmail.com at least one week in advance of your preferred date.
2. Let her know what type of service you are looking to do so that she can gauge the time required. Check out her full list of services and price list, as well as nail knowledge if you are unsure of the terms of what you want. Personally, I feel that it would be good if you can show her images roughly of what you what - I whatsapp'd her what I wanted before heading over.
3. After confirmation of date, you'll have to transfer a deposit of $10 to Phyl (she didn't use to implement this, but did so after too many people stood her up last minute) and pay the remaining after your nail services in cash :).
*Soak off for normal gel polish are at $5 (or $10 for 3D designs)

The working area
Phyl's work area is airconditioned (IKR, yay!) and the place is really cozy and relaxing. The area is curtained up so you'll have your sense of privacy. I like that there's a TV included in there with movies for you to watch while Phyl does her magic. I was watching Pitch Perfect!
Phyl owns cats but they are very very chilled and the type that "couldn't care less" about you so unless you are allergic to their fur I don't think there's anything to be weary about. Just look at how chilled her cat was in the right side of the first picture!

If you are unsure of what design you what, or the colours you want on your nails, Phyl has some of her colours and works hooked to the side of the table for your easy viewing!

After letting her know what I wanted, Phyl took a look at my very short nails and told me she was going to do a hardgel overlay for me (since I was going to be going back often to do my nails, she wanted to protect my own set of nails) so that my nails can grow out to longer lengths for me to do more designs without extenions. For more information on how hardgel works: check out Hard Gel Overlay @ D'Nail Palette.

Getting down to doing the nails.
All of Phyl's services comes with shaping + prepping of cuticles. She's very skilled and fast at this and no blogger was harmed during this process lol. I've seen pictures of people going to unskilled manicurists who cut them while cutting their cuticles!! Looks very painful!

Other than Step 1, my nails were cured under the UV light in between each step.

The first layer of Hard Gel feels a little warm at the fingertips (nothing to be worried about, Phyl makes sure that she doesn't apply it onto your skin so it won't hurt during curing) but you can barely feel anything after that.

I chose a black base because for the design I had, I feel that this is the colour to bring out the gold glitter and sparkles. So on goes my nails are 2 layers of iGel. (Gelish and iGels are both soft gels - but the term Gelish that we've come to known as Soft Gel is actually a brand of soft gels under the brand Harmony)

After adding glitter and sparkles.. here's the finished product! It only took me an hour at her place to get these all done!

Awkward hand poses..
I really like soft gel polishes because they not only last very long, they always maintain this glossy and dewy finish!
As promised, here's the special promotion for my readers when you quote my name "Jamie"!
*Not available during peak periods (eg. CNY) and ongoing promotions.

I helped modelled for their store and their products are of amazing quality - and as you have seen I have gotten a couple of dresses for myself (one of them is as shown above), and that also mean that they were my favourite pieces :x.
