Melben Signature @ Tanjong Pagar Bestway Building

Last year, I shared with you guys about my thoughts on Melben Signature at Tanjong Pagar.

A few months back (this post is so backdated sigh) I went back to try out some more food on their menu - and the must-have when you go to Melben is the Claypot Crab Bee Hoon which is pictured above! I have written my thoughts on it once, and the standard of it is just as good. Creamy soup that's not too thick with an abundance of the sweetness of the crab! If you're coming here for one dish, this is the dish to order.

The crab dishes here are what I would really really recommend because their crabs are so succulent, fresh, and perfectly cooked! Melben uses live crabs so you can rest assured you are getting your money's worth!

If claypot crab bee hoon isn't your thing, I'd suggest the Butter Crabs, althought I was told by B (who went to try the food with me because I don't eat everything and he can input his thoughts for those dishes) that their Chilli Crab is really good as well! He let me try a little and I actually liked it! The sauce was sweet and tangy with a hint of spice!

Another highlight for me that day was this dish of scallops and yam. The scallop is encased in yam and deep fried. Apart from the fact that the scallop wasn't overcooked, the creamy yam plays up very well with the crispy texture of the exterior and the springy sweetness of the scallops!

B really liked the razor clams steamed with garlic. Since I really hate garlic, I gave this dish a pass! According to him, the clams were really sweet and fresh, and the clams were really clean as well.

The nonya style steamed fish tasted very similar to Assam style, which features a sweet and tangy sauce. Again, the fish was very fresh, cooked perfectly and the sauce was very appetising!

These mango prawns were super yums as well! I loved how it retained crispy even after it was coated in the sauce. The sauce was slightly sweet and fragrant. I usually dislike sauces but this was really outstanding.

Now something that was really interesting is this Icy Sweet and Sour Pork - which was served on a bed of ice!! Where to find such an interesting dish?? Despite being apprehensive, I actually really liked it. The meat is cool and crispy on the outside (and it stayed cripsy through the meal idk how) yet nice and hot on the inside. If you like sweet and sour pork, give this a go and you won't be disappointed!

Some dishes I've already tried during my previous visit, but again I'd highly recommend the signature seafood beancurd which was super yums!!
