The Sloane Clinic Body Beautiful Workshop

Tuesday, March 27, 2012
A couple of weeks back, I was invited by Sharon from The Sloane Clinic to attend their Body Beautiful Workshop. I wouldn't actually call it a workshop, more like a talk. However, the talk was very informative and I went home with a wider understanding of the different weight loss procedures, and a more in-depth knowledge of how the procedures go, as well as the different types of procedures and the way they work.

While waiting for the workshop to begin~

The Workshop was held at Yu Cuisine, which is opposite their MBS outlet (and serves good food btw!). During the talk, we were introduced to the 3 different types of non-invasive weight loss treatments which include CoolSculpting, Ultrashape, and Body Shape by Thermage

Dr. Melvin Tan presenting on CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting, in layman terms, is actually a procedure that uses cold air to freeze your fat cells down. It has 0 down time (meaning that you can continue with your usual stuff immediately after the treatment) but may cause bruising to the treated area.
"CoolScuplting by Zeltiq uses a non-invasive applicator to target and remove fat cells in localized areas on the body. The device is applied to the target area and then its starts reducing the temperature to attain the right coldness to selectively target the fat cells in that area.
The body responds with an inflammatory reaction that causes the body to dispose of the broken down fat cells. The result is a reduction of the treated fat buldge (“love handles” or “muffin top”) that appears 2-4 months after treatment. The whole procedure (for each section) takes 1-2 hours on average. "

Dr Chua Han Boon presenting on Ultrashape

Ultrashape (as derived from the treatment procedure) actually uses targeted Ultrasound waves to specifically aim at controlled depths to get rid of fat cells.
"High intensity ultrasound energy is focused and delivered at a precisely controlled depth to blast unwanted fat cells away safely and painlessly, without harming surrounding tissue, vessels, nerves or skin. The free fat is then drained away by our lymphatic system to be metabolized and eliminated naturally. Multi-centre controlled trials reassure doctors and patients that the free fats released do not accumulate and raise blood lipid levels."

Light snacks were served after the talk and the participants of the workshop got to clarify their doubts with the different doctors.

You girls (or guys) can check out on the links I provided above for more information on the different procedures! (:. Alternatively, (If you're interested) call up to clinic and book a consultation to see which is more suitable for you!

Personally, this is the first I've heard of The Sloane Clinic. However, the two sisters that I was seated beside (Amy and Cecelia if I remember correctly) were such fans of the clinic, they couldn't stop singing praises to me! They're regulars and they were telling me about how much they love the service and the treatments offered at The Sloane Clinic. These are something I will definitely want to try out in the future! (Maybe after pregnancy in the future to get rid of the stubborn fat :P)

We each got to take home a Detox kit which also contains more information about the different procedures for the face and body. (Even has information on plastic surgery!)

These talks are held pretty regularly, as I was told by Sharon, so if any of you are interested to attend the future talks, you can keep a lookout at The Sloane Clinic's Facebook Page.
