Bangkok Day 1

Sunday, February 17, 2013
So early this month, B and I headed for our first overseas trip together! I've been overseas with his family a couple of times before but this is the first time both of us are going overseas by ourselves.. to somewhere we both haven't been before (at least not in the recent years for him) so we were both very excited!! (The headband I was wearing from GlamGirl  actually broke on the way back cause I carelessly left it in my carry on bag T_T. I received so many compliments telling me it was so cute on the trip there!)

Also, since he has enlisted in 2011, we haven't been overseas together (at least not for leisure for him lol) which made us even more excited! Plus, the objective of the trip was sort of our anniversary trip as well as a shopping trip! And.... this was actually my first time being on a plane after 18+ years of my life!!

We flew Scoot and were unlucky enough to be involved in the mass delays thanks to a certain flight that caused more delays. We were initially notified that it was going to be a 6 hour delay - but thankfully his uncle checked it for us and we found out that it was pushed forward (making it a 3 hour delay), and we didn't get the email from Scoot until about 1 hour to the EDT. Would definitely be a lot better if Scoot could improve on this.

Throughout the trip we kept getting conned by Taxi drivers!!!! I can't even..... *facepalm*. Shall not talk about that too much, but yeah... the next time we go back to Bangkok we're definitely gonna be more familiar.

Anyway.... our hotel was Bangkok City Hotel. Somewhat near Platinum - we walked to Platinum Mall every time we went there, so I guess that's a good enough gauge. It was a recommendation from B's brother, and it was very affordable. 7eleven nearby as well. Keep in mind that this hotel is pretty new though, so if you're intending to stay here be sure to prepare a map to the hotel to show to Taxi drivers.

We got the Deluxe Suite (if I remember right). The room had a king sized bed, safe, fridge, and a tv with quite a good variety of channels.

Bathroom was stocked with a small bottle of shampoo and bath soap, as well as a shower cap and towels, and an inbuilt hair dryer. We bought our toothpaste and toothbrush from the nearby 7eleven before heading out to eat nearby since our flight only landed around 11pm and we were hungry - there's this place near the hotel which serves VERY GOOD FOOD. We ate there nearly everyday of our trip lol.

Crabmeat Fried Rice, Tom Yum Goong, and Oyster Omelette. It helps that the place has a menu with pictures.. and a very helpful waiter.

They actually have real chunks of crab meat in the fried rice!! (but with some bits of the cartilage as well lol)

Very spicy tom yum goong. I'm a bigger fan of tom yum talay (the clear soup)

Suuuuuper yummy oyster omelette. I don't eat oysters.. but the omelette was super yums lol.

After that we just headed back to our hotel to settle down and prepare for the next day of shopping!

Ending day 1 here :)

    1. Thanks :).
These are taken from my camera so no filters. For the pictures that are taken with my phone then yes, I did.

    1. Self shots are taken with Casio Exilim's TR150, others by Samsung's EX1.

  4. Welcome, just stating the facts :) Thanks for telling your readers the model of the camera.
I believe I have seen a review of the camera by your blog.
Both your complexion look so good with the filter, but I'm sure it's both your beautiful features that makes the photo look good

    1. You're welcome! I believe it's OOS at a lot of places though. Yup, I've reviewed it before!!
My skin is really a facade created by the camera, haha. You'll see the truth in more posts to come, please don't judge T_T. Features-wise, I thank makeup hehehe. Thanks a lot though, your comment made my day! :)

  5. Nah, you have a slim oval face shape and big eyes even without circle lenses.
Like those Kpop actresses. I would gladly have the same features as you anyday, anytime !

I am a reader of your blog since late 2011 :)
Noticed that you do not post reviews as often compared to the past.
Will there be more reviews coming up soon on skincare ? :) Or only makeup ?

    1. Aww you're so sweet! Thanks for being such a darling! I would want to wear big eye lenses but my eyes are unsuitable for them thats why you see me without them haha.

Thank you for your support! Yeah, I used to do more but my skin has been terrible for a while now (I don't do skincare reviews with makeup mode) and that is why they have been lacking. I just went to a clinic for it today, so you'll see the skincare post on my blog soon, hope you're looking forward to it! :)

    1. Hello~ When you exit the hotel, walk towards the right side and you'll see a whole row of resturants. This place only opens at night, and is the stall with 2 store fronts :). There are pictures provided on the menu for easy ordering as well!

  8. Hi thanks for your reply but may i ask what are the other nearby shops or landmarks? is it before or after 7 eleven. thanks.

    1. It's a walkable distance away from Platinum Mall and there's a good wanton mee stall nearby of Platinum Mall. You can also walk to the train station to take a train down to chatuchuk. 7eleven is on the left after you exit the hotel, so the resturant is on the right side :)

  10. Hi may I know how long you took to walk to platinum mall? How about pratunam market?

  11. About 10~15 minutes? I don't usually like walking so if I can walk there the distance is okay haha. We always took a cab to pratunam.
