DRx 6 - Nose Fillers

Tuesday, March 4, 2014
As many of you may have already known from my Instagram, I've gotten fillers for my nose bridge last year at DRx, who also sponsors my skincare.
While I am perfectly comfortable with most of my features, one thing that I always disliked was having a low nose bridge. Aesthetics aside, the fact that my nose bridge was so low always made it an issue with me when I wear shades - they were always sliding off my nose!

As you guys may be able to see from the various images on top (all pre-fillers), the area between my eyes was flat. I can fake the frontal by contouring using make up, but I couldn't fix my profile with that. Neither could make up help the shades from constantly sliding off.

While plastic surgery was definitely not in my books, fillers was something I could deal with. First being that it is temporary (lasts 9~12 months depending on individual, also depending on the brand) so that if I don't like it,I can always just wait till it metabolises, 2nd being that they are non-invasive ( I don't appreciate being cut up by a surgeon to implant something into my body), and they are definitely much more natural. Besides, our bone structure changes as we age so we can always get the filler to be shaped to best fit our face.
I remember during an event, the bloggers got to chat with a plastic surgeon and what he recommended was that if you are interested in getting a nose job, you should get fillers first to see if you like how the "new nose" looks on you before committing to something more permanent.

My first appointment with Dr Angela for my fillers was back in late November, which was when I let her know which were my area(s) of concern (in my case, my nose bridge), and she would recommend accordingly as to whether or not you will be suitable for fillers, and also recommend the best type for you to suit your needs.
Dr Angela told me that my nose was actually quite nice in the sense that my (I'm guessing the name of the parts with regards to this image) upper lateral cartilage was at a good height, but I'm lacking height around the nasal bones area. In other words, she'd only have to fill up the area in between my eyes to get the nice bridge that I want.

After the brief consultation, you will be lead into the private waiting area where a therapist will apply the numbing cream for you onto the selected area. Besides nose, you can also do fillers on areas such as the laugh lines, chin, or cheek! The cream will be left on for about 30 mins and by the time, you really cannot feel anything. My entire nose bridge was numb by the time I was asked to go into the room to get my fillers injected.

The actual process was much faster and took only about 10~15 minutes. Before Dr Angela injected the fillers, the area was cleaned and disinfected, and she pinched the area to gauge how much of the fillers will be needed for the bridge to fill. The area was then iced before she started the injection. Best part?? IT WASN'T EVEN PAINFUL. On a scale of 0~10 this would be a definite 0.
I'm not just saying this because I was sponsored, but I was really very shocked about how painless it was. Before, I kept asking Dr Angela if it would hurt, and at this point I felt like such an idiot for being scared of the (non existent) pain lolol. I did feel a little bit of discomfort in the sense that there was a foreign pressure, but otherwise after it was done it didn't feel like much, but I could see the difference in my bridge.
It only took 1/2 a syringe, so I was to return to finish up the rest within the next 3 months - some people fill it up at other areas, but Dr Angela suggested that we waited to see how quickly the fillers metabolise for me before deciding on whether I need to touch up the fillers at the bridge of my nose.

Dr Angela did such an amazing job with it because despite there being an apparent difference, it still looked very natural. There was a tiny bit of bruising at the injection point on my nose bridge for about a week, but nothing a little concealer couldn't hide. Also, the area was a little sore (like a bruise) but otherwise everything was great. Oh, that and you can't wear shades for the next 2 weeks until the fillers "settle in" properly.

I lost the pictures I took because my memory card corrupted then, but here are some photos after my fillers were done!
Really happy how the higher bridge seems to make my forehead look higher, and my eyes more deep-set!

After CNY, I made a trip back to DRx to decide whether or not I'll be getting my remaining fillers (1/2 syringe) touched up or injected into other areas. Dr Angela suggested that I go with touching up as there aren't other areas she could find to fill (yay for naturally chubby cheeks??).

Dr Angela "moulding" my fillers in shape.

The same procedure as the first time repeated, and soon I was out with a even more defined nose bridge - but it was still kept looking nice and natural. This time though, there wasn't any bruising at all! There were only tiny injection marks that were a little red, but again nothing some concealer can't fix!

Side by side, you can see that the bridge is more pronounced but it still looks natural to fit my features

Like I mentioned, fillers have no down time so you can just apply makeup normally and head out directly after!

Here's what my nose bridge looks like in profile after the touch up! Super loving it!

While the difference isn't starkly in-your-face, I really like my new nose bridge. Dr Angela did such a wonderful job at keeping it really natural and in a shape best for my face and features!

While I'm not too sure about the price, I was told that most fillers are sold in packages. You guys should consult DRx with regards to that! Here are some tips I would recommend if you are getting fillers done.

1. Go to a reputable place with a reputable doctor.
Whatever the case, you want to make sure you are in good hands with a doctor who will have your best interest at heart, and make it look as good as you want it to. Despite it being temporary, you will be paying a good sum of money to get this done, why settle for the risk that you might end up disliking it and have to live with it for a year?

2. Do your research.
Know what you want and get your research done on it. Don't just decide you want it and dive into it last minute. Know what you are getting into and what questions you should ask and clear any doubts before committing to it.

3. Bring your concealer and a bit of powder.
The first time there was a little bit of bruising on my nose bridge so the concealer definitely came in handy. The 2nd time there wasn't any bruising but the injection marks were still there. The concealer will help you mask any redness (or bruising) and the powder will set it in place.

4. Don't touch it constantly.
I'm not sure whether or not constantly touching it will result in the shape distorting, but there is an injection point there so you want to make sure you don't risk any infection!

  6. Hi,

First, the results are very successful, congratulations.

There are a lot of information on the Internet about the nose filler complications.

I was published some of them at "http://www.burun-estetigi-rinoplasti.com/medikal-burun-estetigi.html".

Did you see a situation often?

    Greetings from Istanbul.
