Did you think that i spelled "Preview" wrongly??

It was intended to be spelled like that! Read on and you'll find out more about Prevview and Visume Wars!

First up, let me introduce to you Prevview.

Prevview is actually an online job portal where you can post up your information to help you look for a job. It allows employers to view and download your information and at the same time, allows you to search for jobs posted by employers.

Then, how different is Prevview from other online job platforms??

1) Dedicated Profile Page – Just like Facebook and it’s Free!
Imagine having a jobseeker profile where you can express your true self professionally and effectively. Your outstanding soft skills and vibrant personalities will no longer have to be dormant within a piece of paper. Prevview enables you to give a voice and personality to your paper resumes, through cutting edge video streaming technology. You no longer need to attach various documents to your potential employer. Speak to them directly through your visumés and let them know why you should be hired. Back your visumés up with downloadable important and relevant documents such as cover letter, resume, portfolio, and reference letters .
Just like how many of us are more eloquent then writing things out, Prevview gives you the chance to let your character shine through in your Visume rather than your resume or portfolio. Why? Because they can truly see the person you are, and every little thing about you reveals details about the person you are, the type of worker you will be, and more..

2) Two-Pronged Approach To Job Search
A) Search for Jobs with our comprehensive search function and apply immediately. Because our Employers are provided with unlimited job postings, jobseekers can rest assure that they will get the most updated job vacancies in town.
B) Be headhunted by registered Employers - All employers are provided with the Search capability where they can search for and request to interview candidates.
Therefore, by having a platform like this, you are able to effectively search for jobs and at the same time be considered for jobs when employers are searching for employees. Yay and double yay! This will not only benefit jobseekers, but also employers!

3) In-Depth Information about Employers
We all know the importance of research before going for an interview. We also know how important it is to understand a job scope before applying for a job – no one wants to come off as unsure or be taken by surprise during an interview. To enable jobseekers to be as well prepared as possible, Prevview has created dedicated profile pages for employers as well! Everything you need from the HR Video, to Written Profiles and comprehensively described Job Postings to Getting Hired Tips and Q&A can be found under one roof, the Employer Profile Page.
Now this is what i'd call a one-stop service!

Soooo, what is the thing about Visume Wars??

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! The Visumé Wars Have Begun!

Prevview.com has declared an official Visumé War in Singapore. We call upon everyone from the age of 18-35* to step into the professional battle field, in a quest to differentiate yourselves – it’s talent vs talent, Visumé vs Visumé! Unlike any other video showdown, this war appeals to every jobseeker’s most basic struggles. That is, to stand out from the sea of jobseekers with similar talents and credentials and, to prevent themselves from being lost under a stack of paper resumes. Entry is simple and the prizes, amazing. Whether you are looking to get your hands on a beautiful iPad2 or a job position [or both!] with our participating partners, this is competition for you.

The power to conquer is in your hands!

All you need to do is put together a Visume – what we at Prevview call Video Resumes – that will show and tell us why you would make a great employee. You can sing, dance, rap, produce a movie or even sell a brick. Be it creative or professional, do it your way and boldly express your best self.

50 prizes to be won!**

43 participants from Category A and Category B who have received the highest People's Choice scores will receive $10,000 worth of attractive prizes. Seven out of all the participants the Special Category will be placed in amazing job positions at the participating company of their choice [Winners are subjected to the discretion of our participating partner].

So good, i HAD to bold the whole chunk!

So, answer the declaration for war now - Prevview is providing you the weapon and you just have to bring it!

*The competition is open to anyone in any country. However, collection of prizes will be done in the Singapore Prevview office.

**Please refer to our Assessment Criteria for more information.

Some tips for your visume!

DOs

a)Content wise
1. Always speak confidently.

Make yourself sound convincing and let potential employers know why they should hire you instead of others. Don't doubt yourself and be unprepared, so do prepare a script before starting on your visume.

2. Sell yourself.
Of course, start off with your name and the job/industry/position you are interested in/applying for. Never sell yourself short. Plus points (Character/Attitude), Course of studies (whether it is relevant to the job you are applying for), Experiences (CCA, previous jobs, portfolio), Skills (Adobe Photoshop? Excel?) are things you should mention as well. Therefore, in the 60~90mins, you have to sell yourself the best way that you can. Depending on what the job requires, "advertise" yourself by making that your selling point. (Eg. Applying for web designer/editor: Good in adobe photoshop, good at html and javascript etc. THEN, insert pictures of some of your work/portfolio). Highlight experiences/ show samples of works that can showcase your skills/abilities that will be useful in the job you want to apply for.

b)Visually
1. Dress appropriately (as you would go for an interview – you need not be formal but don't be sloppy)

2. Have your hair neat (able to see both eyes) or with your fringe back (for girls).

3. Add subtitles so that in the event that you are too soft, or your articulation is not clear, the viewers can still understand what you are trying to say.

4. Word play. Make yourself seem more interesting and use props.

DON'Ts
1. Mention your intended pay.
Money is still a sensitive issue and will make others think twice about hiring you because it makes it seem like you don't have a passion for the job and are only applying for it for the pay.

2. Use obscenities.
It reflects badly on yourself and makes you seem crude and uneducated if you use them a lot of the time (tip: write a good script without obscenities and edit them out if you accidentally let them slip out). Especially if your job requires you to meet and interact with clients personally.

3. Do anything you wouldn't do at an interview.
Your visume is like a "stage 1" interview on whether you will be called down for a face to face interview. If you already behave badly on a visume, chances are that employers will not call you. Therefore, always make sure you present yourself as you can do best.

4. Overexpose yourself.
Some of us may use ring lights, so you have to make sure your features are visible and not over-exposed. (For example..
)

Well, these are just little tips that i feel will make your visume more noticeable! Good luck for all of you who are interested in finding a job (or winning the prize)!
